THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

BAUTISMO DE NIÑOS
​
Nos alegra mucho que estén pensando en bautizar a sus niños. Jesús nos enseña en el encuentro con Nicodemo que el bautismo es necesario para entrar en el Reino de Dios. (Juan 3, 5) Y después de resucitar, dió a los apóstoles la misión de predicar la Buena Nueva y de Bautizar, para que el que bautice y crea, se salve. (Mc 16, 16) Entonces no basta el solo el bautismo para salvarnos, hay que creer, y para creer hay que conocer, y para conocer hay que mantenerse cerca de la fuente. Nuestra formación católica es indispensable para las generaciones presentes y futuras.
REQUISITOS:
- Los padres del niño deben tener una entrevista, con la señora Olga de la Torre, o con el Padre Vicente antes de venir a las pláticas. Deben llamar a la oficina para hacer una cita: 517-394-4639
- Asistir a dos pláticas de preparación los padres y padrinos. Generalmente el primer y segundo sábado de cada mes a las 10:30 de la mañana en la Iglesia de Cristo Rey.
- No traer niños a la plática, porque es agotador para ellos y necesitan ser atendidos en sus necesidades y perdemos el contenido de la plática. Jesús ama a los niños y la parroquia también, por eso procuramos dar a los padres una buena formación en la fe para que puedan acompañar a sus hijos en el proceso del conocimiento de Dios.
BAPTISM FOR CHILDREN
In his encounter with Nicodemus Jesus teaches us that baptism is necessary to enter in the Kingdom of God. (Jn 3,5) And after his resurrection he gave the apostles the mission to preach the Good News and Baptize, so whoever gets baptized and believes, be saved. (Mc 16,16) Then, baptism is not enough to be saved we have to believe, and to believe we have to know, and to know we have to keep ourselves close to the fountain. Our catholic formation is very important for present and future generations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The child’s parents should have an interview, with Mrs. Olga de la Torre or with Father Vincent before coming to the talks. You should call the office to make an appointment: 517-394-4639
- Parents and Godparents should assist to two preparation talks. Generally, the first and second Saturday of each month at 10:30 in the morning at Cristo Rey Church.
- Do not bring children to the talks. It’s exhausting for them and they need to be tended to their needs and we lose content of the talk. Jesus loves children and the parish too, that is why we try to give the parents a good faith formation so they can join their children in the process of knowing God.
BAUTISMO DE JOVENES O ADULTOS
El Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para Adultos (RICA) es el programa de la Iglesia Católica para acompañar a los jóvenes y adultos que desean convertirse en cristianos y ser miembros de la familia de la Iglesia mediante el sacramento del Bautismo. Este proceso de discernimiento y conversión ocurre durante el transcurso de un año donde los catecúmenos que van a recibir el sacramento del Bautismo (y a veces la Primera Comunión y Confirmación también) reciben la preparación adecuada para convertirse en católicos auténticos listos para seguir a Jesús.
Los niños/jávnes de 10-18 años deben de asistir un año antes al programa de Educación Religiosa antes de poder asistir al programa del Rito de Iniciación Cristiana para recibir los sacramentos. Durante este año de formación se le pide a los padres y padrinos que acompañen a sus hijos y ahijados durante las clases que se dan cada domingo a las 10:15am en el Salón de San Martin. Así mismo, deben asistir a la misa dominical, la Eucaristía, como parte del proceso de preparación.

BAPTISM FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the program of the Catholic Church which accompanies youth and adults who would like to become Catholic and thus members of the Church’s family by the sacrament of Baptism. This discernment and conversion process happen over the course of one year in which the catechumens who are going to receive Baptism (and sometimes First Communion and Confirmation also) receive the appropriate preparation to became authentic Catholics ready to follow Jesus.
Children/Youth 10-18 years old should attend to the Religious Education program one year before in order to attend the RCIA program to receive the sacraments. During the formation year we ask parents and godparents to accompany their children and godchildren during their classes that they receive every Sunday at 10:15 am in the San Martin Hall. In the same way, they should attend Sunday mass, as part of the preparation process.
