We will have the Mass of the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on Friday, February 2nd, 2024 at 7 p.m. this year in our Church. You are invited to bring the baby Jesus from your manger and/or a candle to be blessed. There will be a special blessing for the children after Mass followed by a reception at the San Martin Hall.
All are welcome to attend.

Tendremos la Misa de la Fiesta de la Presentación del Señor el viernes 2 de febrero del 2024 a las 7 p.m. este año en nuestra Iglesia. Estás invitado a traer el bebé Jesús de tu pesebre y/o una vela para ser bendecida. Tendremos una bendición especial para los niños después de la Misa seguida por un covivio en la Salón de San Martín.

La Presentación del Señor
The Mosaic law prescribed that every firstborn male in Israel had to be consecrated to God forty days after birth. This was in remembrance of the firstborn sons being preserved from death on the night of the first Passover during the exodus from Egypt.The Gospel according to St. Luke gives us this account of Jesus’ presentation in the Temple: when the time came for their purification according to the law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, as it is written in the law of the Lord (Lk 2:22-38).
Mary and Joseph obey the Lord in every moment of their lives, including the presentation of Jesus in the Temple. The widespread name of Candlemas comes from the tradition instituted by Pope Sergius I of having a procession with candles. As the elderly Simeon proclaimed, Jesus is the Savior, prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles. In commemorating the arrival and manifestation of the divine light to the world, the Church each year blesses candles, symbol of Jesus’ perennial presence and the light of faith that the faithful receive in the sacrament of Baptism. The procession with lighted candles thus becomes an expression of Christian life: a pathway illuminated by the light of Christ.
We celebrate the Presentation of the Lord in our parish on February 2nd every year. (Please refer to our bulletin for more information) We bring the baby Jesus from our mangers at home or a candle to be blessed during Mass on this day. After the Mass, we have a reception prepared by those who found the baby Jesus in the Rosca de Reyes (The Three King's Cake) in the San Martin Hall. Please, join us to celebrate this beautiful tradition.
La ley de Moisés prescribía que cada primogénito varón en Israel debía ser consagrado a Dios cuarenta días después de su nacimiento. Esto era en memoria de los hijos primogénitos librados de la muerte en la noche de la primera Pascua durante el éxodo de Egipto. El Evangelio según San Lucas nos da el relato de la presentación de Jesús en el Templo: "cuando vino el tiempo de la purificación según la ley de Moisés, lo llevaron a Jerusalén para presentarlo al Señor, según estaba escrito en la ley del Señor". María y José muestran su obediencia a Dios en todo momento incluyendo la presentación de Jesús en el Templo.
El nombre de Candelaria viene de la tradición del Papa Sergio I de tener una procesión con velas. Según proclamó el anciano Simeón, Jesús es el Salvador, preparado en la presencia de todas las naciones, luz revelada a los gentiles. En conmemoración a la llegada y manifestación de la divina luz al mundo, la Iglesia cada año bendice las velas, símbolo de la presencia perenne de Jesús y la luz de la fe que los fieles reciben en el sacramento del Bautismo. La procesión con las velas encendidas por tanto se convierte en una expresión de la vida cristiana: un camino iluminado por la luz de Cristo.
En nuestra parroquia celebramos la Presentación del Señor el 2 de febrero cada año (Por favor chequea el boletín para mas información). Traemos al bebé Jesús de nuestros pesebres en nuestro hogar o una vela para ser bendecida durante la Misa en este día. Después de la Misa, tenemos una recepción preparada por aquellos que encontraron al bebé Jesús en la Rosca de Reyes en el Salón de San Martín.
