TRIDUO PASCUAL

The season of Lent ends with Holy Week and the three days of the Triduum.
HOLY THURSDAY
The night he was arrested, Jesus wanted to celebrate the Passover with his disciples. When they were at the table he got up, wrapped a towel around his waist, and washed the feet of his disciples. After that, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said, "Take and eat of it, all of you, for this is My Body that will be given up for you." In the same way he took the chalice, gave thanks, and passed it to his disciples saying, "Take and drink of it, all of you, for this is the cup of My Blood, the blood of the new covenant, which will be poured out for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me." Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and his offering to God for us is celebrated in the present tense in a special way during Mass. When the priest, in the person of Christ, speaks the words Jesus spoke at the Last Supper, the consecrated bread and wine become Christ himself.
Mass on this day is at 7:00 p.m.
GOOD FRIDAY
On Good Friday we commemorate the death of Jesus. That is why there is no Mass in any Church around the world. We pray with the meditation of the Stations of the Cross and the Liturgy for Good Friday. In our parish the Outdoor Stations of the Cross is at Noon (starting at the Capitol to the Christ the King Campus) followed by the Good Friday Liturgy with the Veneration of the Cross and the Reception of Communion. In the evening, we traditionally pray with the Procession of Silence and the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows to meditate on the suffering of Mary, Mother of Jesus, and our Mother.
EASTER VIGIL
The Easter Vigil is the culmination of the celebration of the greatest mysteries of our faith. On the third day after his death Jesus rose gloriously, and lives eternally with the Father, and in all who will receive him. The celebration of the Vigil usually begins at dusk with the Rite of Light: a bonfire, representing the Light of Christ, outside the Church, we light the Paschal Candle, and share this light by lighting small candles that we carry with the rest of the community. It continues with the Easter Proclamation and the reading of the Word, proclaiming his saving plan in the history of humanity. Later we sing the Gloria, accompanying the angels in the joy of the Risen Christ. We welcome new catechumens and candidates into the life of the Church who are to receive their sacraments of initiation. Then we continue the celebration of Mass. JUEVES SANTO
La noche en que fue arrestado, Jesús quiso celebrar la Pascua con sus discípulos. Cuando estaban a la mesa se levantó, envolvió una toalla en su cintura y lavó los pies de sus discípulos. Después de eso, tomó pan, dio gracias, lo partió, y dijo, "Tomen y coman todos de él, porque esto es Mi Cuerpo que será entregado por ustedes." De la misma manera tomó el cáliz, dio gracias, y lo pasó a sus discípulos diciendo, "Toman y beban todos de él, porque este es el cáliz de Mi Sangre, sangre de la nueva alianza, que será derramada por ustedes y por todos para el perdón de los pecados. Hagan esto en memoria mía." El sacrificio de Jesús en la cruz y su ofrecimiento a Dios por nosotros se celebra en tiempo presente de una manera especial durante la Misa. Cuando el sacerdote, en la persona de Cristo, pronuncia las palabras que dijo Jesús en la Ultima Cena, el pan y vino consagrados se convierten en Cristo mismo.
La Misa este día es a las 7:00 p.m.
VIERNES SANTO
En el Viernes Santo conmemoramos la muerte de Jesús. Es por eso por lo que no hay Misa en ninguna Iglesia en todo el mundo. Oramos con la meditación del Via Crucis y la Liturgia para el Viernes Santo. En nuestra parroquia el Via Crucis al Aire Libre es al Mediodía (empezando en el Capitolio hasta el Cristo Rey Campus) seguido por la Liturgia del Viernes Santo con la Veneración de la Cruz y la Recepción de la Comunión. En la noche, tradicionalmente rezamos con la Procesión del Silencio y el Rosario de los Siete Dolores para meditar en el sufrimiento de María, Madre de Jesús, y Madre nuestra.
VIGILIA PASCUAL (SABADO SANTO)
La Vigilia Pascual es la culminación de la celebración de los misterios más grandes de nuestra fe. Al tercer día después de su muerte Jesús resucitó glorioso, y vive eternamente junto al Padre, y en todo aquel que lo quiera recibir. La celebración de la Vigilia comienza generalmente al anochecer con el Rito de la Luz: una fogata, representando la Luz de Cristo, afuera de la Iglesia, encendemos el Cirio Pascual, y compartimos esta luz encendiendo pequeñas velas que llevamos con el resto de la comunidad. Continua con el Pregón Pascual y la lectura de la Palabra, proclamando su plan salvador en la historia de la humanidad. Más tarde cantamos el Gloria, acompañando a los ángeles en la alegría de Cristo Resucitado. Damos la bienvenida a los nuevos catecúmenos y candidatos en la vida de la Iglesia que van a recibir sus sacramentos de iniciación. Entonces continuamos la celebración de la Misa.
